iPad 2 Order from Apple Store Singapore
If you are thinking of ordering from Apple Store, think again....
I recently placed an iPad 2 order online and received it 2 weeks later. Everything is fine, the order process is easy, payment is easy and tracking information is clear and good. Got my package from DHL, but when I took my iPad 2 out of the box I saw 3 scratches at the back and a speck of dust underneath the screen glass. Note that there was shrink-wrap and the box looks brand new, packaging well protected and everything. I'm just surprised that the product itself looks like a refurbished set or their QC check wasn't thorough enough. I'm actually fine with a few minor scratches at the back but dust under the screen glass is definitely not acceptable. Called up the customer service no. and the guy on the phone was courteous and attentive, processed an exchange and told me DHL will call me within 3 working days to pickup the delivered iPad 2 and will take another week to deliver a new one. It's really frustrating, took 2 weeks to deliver is fine but to wait another week or 2 for the exchange is just driving me nuts. While I understand the quirks that may pop up and that has never deter me to buy stuff online but a product fault like that from a world-class company like Apple really threw me off guard. Even as an Apple product enthusiast I reckon I will probably not buy an Apple product online in the future and rather wait for the stores to restock so that I can check for defects while purchasing it in that store. Just a caution to those who are thinking of buying Apple product online. Btw, 3 working days have passed and I have not received a call from DHL. iPad 2 in my office, paid for and I can't freaking use it.
